How you fuel your body is essential… no matter what stage of pregnancy, motherhood, or life you’re in. Consuming the whole animal, nose-to-tail, has been prized in traditional cultures all over the world for centuries. Liver, bone marrow, and other nourishing organs are the most nutritious ingredients on the planet, and they serve as the foundation of health. The energy you consume from food regulates the body’s natural internal functions, repairing the cells and body tissue, necessary to maintain homeostasis.
From as soon as conception, your growing baby starts absorbing nutrients from you, mama, and continues throughout the birthing and breastfeeding journey. Breastfeeding sustains life for your baby, pulling fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals and water from your body. Starting from a nutritional deficit can make the process more complicated and challenging for your mental, emotional and physical health, and that stress can carry over to the baby. Your body needs an increase in calories and nutrients in order to maintain your energy stores.
Properly feed yourself. Make this a non negotiable. Eat the entire animal, nose-to-tail, horns to hooves. Eat enough calories and stay properly hydrated with spring water. Consider traditional foods like liver, bone, marrow, fish eggs, egg yolks, and especially tallow as staples throughout motherhood…there’s almost nothing better that you can do for yourself!
